Small Businesses. Big Hearts. Chickahominy Falls Loves Local.

At Chickahominy Falls, we believe in community.  It’s at the heart and soul of what we do by helping to create a life that is purpose driven, supportive and fulfilled. It is from that recipe where we believe goodness grows. From local farmers and bakeries, we all come together and connect at Woodside Farms every Wednesday and Saturday. But right down the road from Chickahominy Falls there are plenty of ways to support and love local every day. Where small businesses with big hearts are using their creativity during tough times to still show up and continue to make us city proud.

Summertime Pastimes.

Summer is all about traditions. And this one will have you recalling memories of days gone by. Piling into the family station wagon with freshly popped corn and the latest motion picture, was an extra special treat then. And now, Ashland Theater is bringing back old-fashioned summertime traditions in a socially distanced entertainment series at Ashland Theater After Dark. This Friday, the original Ghostbusters will be playing on the outdoor big screen. Making old pastimes Avant Garde again.

Good Friends Wine Together.

Sometimes you just need to wine down. And there’s no better place than right down the road at James River Cellars. The folks here have been safely supporting the community with curbside carryout, including an extra special treat – wine slushies. Now, the patio is open for outdoor seating or you can even schedule a private seating indoors. And every Friday this summer, enjoy live music from local bands and food truck fare from 2nd Alarm Grill and Monique’s Crepes.

Good Eats Down The Street.

Ashland is always full of flavor. But now they are adding options to get all your favorite foods in the way that makes you most comfortable. Iron Horse, Caboose Market Café and Industrial Taphouse (just to name a few) all offer outdoor seating, carryout and even delivery options. So you can treat yourself comfortably.

Friends-To-Farm-To-Table

We support local every day at the Farm. From our own fresh produce to our friends and neighbors who join us at our Farm Stands, it’s all good and all local. Creambrook Farm with fresh, raw milk. Pinwwheel Farm offers fresh eggs. La Bella Vita Bakery selling baked goods a plenty. All Good Acres with fresh chicken and ground beef. Soap ‘N Stuff for the best goat’s milk soap. And Village Garden RVA with spice blends for adding all the right flavors to your life.

From chefs and bakers, artists, musicians, go-getters and do-it-yourselfers. These businesses may be small, but they are mighty. Big on talent, heart and soul. And lucky for us, we get to enjoy the delicious fruit of this labor of love.
