Spring Arrives at Chickahominy Falls

A Season of Gatherings, Good Food, and Living Well

Spring has a way of reminding us what’s possible. At Chickahominy Falls, you can see it first at Woodside Farms. Small green shoots begin pushing through the soil, quiet at first, then unmistakable. A signal of what’s to come. A season of growth, of abundance, of fresh starts.

And it’s not just happening in the fields. As the days stretch a little longer, you start to notice the rhythm of the community shifting too. More chairs pulled together. More conversations that linger. Evenings that don’t end quite so quickly, because there’s no reason for them to.

Spring opens the door to new and brighter ways of living at Chickahominy Falls.

A Celebration That Feels Like Home

Celebration of Spring

April 18, 12–3 PM

It begins, as it should, at the farm. On Saturday, April 18 from noon to 3 PM, residents and guests gather at Woodside Farms for the annual Celebration of Spring for an afternoon that captures everything that makes life here feel different.

There’s live music drifting through the fields, this year by Danny Kensy. Food trucks line the edge of the lawn, from Happy Place Pizza to Vampire Penguin, each one drawing a small crowd that turns into a conversation.

Local makers set up shop, sharing pieces that feel personal, thoughtful, and distinctly Virginian.

You might find yourself with something in hand, a handmade piece, something fresh from the market, or a raffle entry for the farm-fresh giveaway, but what stays with you is the feeling.

And just steps away, the Woodside Market is open, offering a taste of what daily life looks like here that is completely fresh, local, and always within reach.

Living Well, Thoughtfully

Woodside Wellness Chat: The Healthcare Continuum

April 20, 5–7 PM

A couple of days later, the setting shifts, but the intention remains the same.

Inside the Big Red Barn at Woodside Farms, the Woodside Wellness Series continues with a conversation that reflects another defining part of life at Chickahominy Falls. That is, living well isn’t just about today, but it’s preparing yourself for what’s next.

Presented by Matthew Marino and Jaime Smiley, The Healthcare Continuum offers a clear, thoughtful look at healthcare and senior living options in the region.

Over light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, the conversation unfolds naturally:

  • What types of care are available locally
  • How insurance and payment structures work
  • What questions truly matter when evaluating providers

It’s informative without being overwhelming and practical without losing its sense of ease. And like everything here, it’s designed to leave you feeling more confident and more in control of what comes next.

A Summer That Builds on Spring

Made in Virginia Market

June 13, 12–3 PM

By early summer, the rhythm is unmistakable. And on June 13, the community welcomes the Made in Virginia Market, an afternoon dedicated to local craftsmanship and creativity.

This is where you’ll find:

  • Artisans whose work reflects the region
  • Handmade goods with a story behind them
  • Conversations with the people who made what you’re bringing home

This is a great way to connect to the very place you call home in a deeper, more meaningful way.

Evenings That Stretch Just a Little Longer

Jazz Wine Down Wednesdays

July 15 • August 19 • September 16

Then come the evenings that define summer. As the sun lowers and the air softens, neighbors gather once again, but this time for Jazz Wine Down Wednesdays.

The perfect way to break up the week, from 5:30 to 8 PM on select Wednesday evenings throughout the season, the community comes together for:

  • Live music by John Bradberry
  • Wine and food curated by Vineyard Fare

There’s no rush. No agenda. Just the little luxury of time well spent.

More Than Events. A Way of Living.

At many communities, events are something you check on a calendar. At Chickahominy Falls, they’re something that grows naturally from the people who live here.

From the working farm at Woodside Farms to the trails, The Farmhouse, and the everyday spaces in between, this is a place where health and happiness are a way of life. And fun, is always on the agenda.
